Well…If you can call the local newspaper and radio station that! So yes, I managed to get ‘An Evening with MYO’ into the local press. I think the concept of a supper club was new to Salisbury so must have seemed like an interesting story to report on. So, if you’re from Salisbury – listen out on Spire FM – I’m cringily going to be on it! Ahh…

The Three MYO girls
My third supper club was possibly the best yet. We decided not to do pizza, mainly because one of our bigger bookings had hinted they’d like something different and also because I wanted to give people a ‘Taste of Italy’. So, each course represented a different region that I’d been to in Italy – to give you an idea: for primo I made a pasta dish with pesto (from Genoa) and for main, I made pollo al marsala (from Sicily). All in all, everything went down very well. We decreased the size of our portions and maintained a very strict to do list, and everyone (Staff included) left with a smile on their faces. Our final supper club in June is this Saturday on 28th June, so if you’re reading this and are interested in coming along, please book here.

I’ve also been to a couple of auctions in a bid to find a dough mixer, and I can tell you, it hasn’t been easy. However, kneading up to 10 kilograms of dough for my supper clubs and the prospect of kneading a heck of a lot more for the van does NOT do it for me, or my muscles, hence the search for the dough mixer. Anyway, three auctions later and a lot of online searching, I’ve found one. A beautiful second hand 20 litre Hobart mixer for £360. Sounds pricey I know, but these things don’t seem to lose any of their value so I’m thinking I’ll easily be able to sell it on. The auction today was pretty amusing, there were just boxes upon boxes of beer glasses, crockery and general tat and because they were only going for pennies (£2), I impulsively said yes to about four of them. It was kind of exhilarating, I won’t lie. I’m also becoming a pro. A pro at buying tat, anyway!
Theodore (the van) is just taking forever I made the decision to move it to Newbury where I believed he’d be paid more attention and STILL he is not painted. Oh well at least the paint has been ordered, patience is the virtue and all that. But, in short I don’t think I’m going to make the summer trade so I’m now contemplating serving soup and hot chocolate (thick Italian style) instead of gelato to start with.

Theodore’s new colour… what do you think?
Oh, I’m now on a serious get fit regime. I know I say this a lot, but I’m serious now. I’m currently on day three and I haven’t touched chocolate. Miracle, you may say. I even turned down the Oreo ice cream cookie my Dad bought for me. Instead I’m replacing all these brown luxuries with fruit. If you really are what you eat, I’m going to be turning into a Satsuma any day now. I haven’t been taken out at all recently either (hint hint) but I AM going to Wimbledon next Monday which I’m super excited about. Not SO excited about the 4am start, but the chance of seeing Murray playing in the quarter finals (you best make it Andy!), will be enough to get me out of bed.
In terms of the all-important ‘what’s next’, I’ve been encouraged to ‘set up shop’ aka supper club in Bath, Newbury and London so I’m currently trying to secure venues while trying not to have a panic attack over the slowness of the van. I’m also working part time at Leonardo’s and attempting to turn down their delicious lasagnes and carby dishes – ah but salad is just so boring! I’m also thinking about becoming a gardener, haha, well making use of our allotment so I really can serve ‘local’ ingredients. Given my track record with pets and flowers, I’m not overly optimistic about how this will pan out, but we’ll see…
